Super Bowl 2013: NOVA Admin to Join Beyoncé at Halftime

Dierdra Anderson won a Pepsi challenge and will be on the Super Bowl XLVII (47) Halftime show stage Sunday.

Dierdra Anderson will be sharing the halftime show stage at the Super Bowl with Beyoncé Knowles.  The Baltimore Ravens are playing the San Francisco 49ers Sunday evening in New Orleans for Super Bowl XLVII (47).  Anderson, who works at Northern Virginia Community College here in Alexandria, was chosen as one of just 50 people nationwide to appear with Beyoncé during the Super Bowl Halftime show. Anderson was selected after submitting a photo of herself posing like Beyoncé in a Pepsi Halftime Soundoff challenge.  Anderson is the assistant faculty administrator for NOVA’s community-based organizations (CBO) initiative. Football and Facebook: Virginia Residents Back Baltimore in 2013 Super Bowl

Facebook data shows most Northern Virginia users are rooting for the Baltimore Ravens, switching their allegiance (temporarily) from the Washington Redskins.

It's not a surprise that most Facebook users in Northern Virginia and D.C. started the football season solidly supporting the Washington Redskins—even though many people who live here came from someplace else. "While winning seems to matter, NFL teams have local followings that are probably heavily influenced by family ties and/or where a person grew up," according to Facebook, which recently compiled data on Facebook users who are fans of an NFL team on the social network. During the regular season, Redskins fans on Facebook are likely to be friends with fans of the Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants—most of those are geographically close to the D.C. area, Facebook reports.   But…

2013 Super Bowl: Where to Watch in Alexandria, Ravens-49ers History and More

Who's going to win—the Baltimore Ravens or the San Francisco 49ers? History favors the Ravens. Give us a prediction in the comments!

Super Bowl XLVII is coming up this Sunday, Feb. 3 in New Orleans — the Baltimore Ravens will face the San Francisco 49ers. An added twist this year is brother vs. brother head coaches. Jim Harbaugh coaches the 49ers, and his brother John coaches the Ravens. (What are the odds that two brothers will become head coaches in the NFL and face each other in the Super Bowl? Find out here.)  When these two teams square off Sunday, it will be the fifth time they've met since the 1996 season. Baltimore has won three games — in 2003, 2007 and 2011. San Francisco won in 1996.   *  [More: History of the San Francisco 49ers - Ravens games.] Where to Watch Super Bowl XLVII in Alexandria and Washington Alexandria has plenty of sports bars with big screens…
