One can do just about anything in ACPS, without ramifications...Mort rules the city! This is soooo…Read More rich. Even Pat Henig is powerless...what a joke of a school system!

Teachers throughout ACPS call Sherman's tenure the lost decade. How apropos!

WestEnder--
Oh more please on you. Your ghetto Seminary Towers apartments are not able to be used…Read More because their alignment is incorrect with respect to the sun. You have one week to move out of your squalid filthpile so we can turn it into condos for new Mark Center employees. I am USTA throned thrice over and I once saw Nadal whip your mother at the net. I have tennis experiences. And muchly of them.

The article does not say how much these courts are expected to cost. THat would seem a relevant…Read More consideration. If they are less than $100K, then maybe it is not a huge deal. If it is in the vicinity of $1 million, then cost becomes the main consideration and we should look at alternatives.

Probably would be inappropriate (wait, let me check to see if I spelled that correctly!) to comment…Read More on specific personnel on this forum but certainly do not disagree with much of what you've said here. Not sure if everyone has the same definition of "top heavy". Our organizational structure is actually pretty flat (but may indeed now be too wide re volume of central office support staff vice direct employees in schools). I was just in Richmond today and I told the Senate Finance committee that, given our resources, it is an embarrassment for Alexandria to have an unaccredited school. In the three months that we've been in place now, I've been proud to be a member of the ACPS Board. I think we will continue to garner support from Alexandria citizens and we will always endeavor to make prudent policy, organizational and financial decisions to support student achievement. Stay tuned!

I think I've seen the Government study on Head-Start and don't agree that additional quality early…Read More childhood experiences would be ineffective for many of Alexandria's low-income children. There have been several longitudinal (how about that big word donnaandgary, not bad for a hillbilly huh!) studies confirming the effectiveness of quality pre-school experiences. Of course I'm suggesting things that really our outside of the reach of school districts (Pre-K-12). In the President's State of the Union speech, there was suggestion of increasing funding for early childhood education. I would certainly be a strong advocate for it.

So you have the Commonwealth Attorneys office and a judge agreeing that the school system acted…Read More inappropriately. Yet Mr.Sherman continues to assure the public that ACPS acted appropriately. Who should the citizens believe?
