Great Waves Cracks 100,000 Visitors

More than 100,000 people visited Great Waves waterpark in Alexandria and about one-third of them were Alexandria residents, according to new data from the City of Alexandria.

Great waves has the only wave pool in the region, in addition to multiple waterslides and ancillary activities like batting cages and miniature golf. Great Waves is a partnership with NOVA Parks (the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority).

“So many of our visitors are from the City of Alexandria, and they often go out of their way to find me and let me know how much they value our presence,” said Great Waves Manager Donny Wensinger in a release. “I thought it was a bit unusual at first, but after time it really became clear – Alexandrians really consider this waterpark a part of their collective identity.”

The park is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily and is located on Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria. More information is available at www.greatwaveswaterpark.com.
