Monday, Sept. 9

Go Skins! Redskins star quarterback Robert Griffin III is expected to play for the Monday Night Football opener on ESPN, leading the Washington Redskins against the Philadelphia Eagles at FedEx field. Kickoff is at 7:10 p.m.

Mini-golf! It’s fun for the whole family. Top Golf USA has 36 holes of mini-golf on two courses. It’s open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. and later on Friday and Saturday and until 10 p.m. Sunday It’s located at 6625 S. Van Dorn St. in Alexandria. 703-924-2600.

Tuesday, Sept. 10

Is your home ready for fall and winter? McEnearney Associates is offering a free seminar on getting your home buttoned up for the season. The discussion will be led by realtor Debbie Hauter at 7 p.m., McEnearney Associates, 212-A N. West St. in Falls Church.

Hop on board a new water taxi service aboard the Miss Sophie, connecting the National Mall, Georgetown and National Harbor. This service will be offered six days a week, Tuesdays through Sundays, with no service on Mondays, except holiday Mondays. Reservations may be made online, www.potomacriverboatco.com, or tickets may be purchased at the ticket booths at National Harbor and Georgetown. At the National Mall, tickets may be purchased on the boat, on a space-available basis.

On Tuesday at 6 p.m., the City of Alexandria will join the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in recognizing individuals as naturalized U.S. citizens at its annual Citizenship Day event. During the event, the honorees will be sworn in and will take the oath of allegiance for U.S. citizenship. David Agnew, deputy assistant to the president and director of intergovernmental affairs, will be this year's keynote speaker. The event will be held at Alexandria City Hall, Market Square, 301 King St.  (In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the City Hall lobby.) 

Wednesday, Sept. 11

The City of Alexandria invites the public to a 10 a.m. remembrance ceremony for the 12th anniversary of the events of Sept. 11, 2001. The event will take place in Market Square at 301 King St. The purpose of the commemoration is to give thanks and pay tribute to those who responded on 9/11 without fear, acted without hesitation, and gave their lives to save others. The ceremony will feature remarks from Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille, Alexandria Sheriff Dana Lawhorne, Police Chief Earl Cook, and Fire Chief Adam Thiel.

Enjoy the Corcoran uncorked. The Corcoran Gallery of Art stays open late on Wednesdays for wine and cocktail tastings, lectures and tours. The cover charge is $15, which includes one drink during the 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. event. College students get in for free. The gallery is located at 500 17th St., NW in Washington, DC.

Eat dinner with a spy through this International Spy Museum event. For $225, enjoy a dinner with Malcolm Nance, a counterterrorism and terrorism intelligence expert with field and combat experience. Thursday, Sept. 12

Fall is approaching but it’s never to late to enjoy “The Rite of Spring.” Enjoy a filmed performance of the Ballets Russes at the National Gallery of Art, 4th and Constitution Ave., NW, Washington, DC. 202-737-4215. The film shows at 12:30 p.m. Free!

An opening reception for "Andy Warhol: Silver Clouds," takes place at Artisphere in Arlington. For the first time in the DC area, 150 of the “clouds” made in the mid-1960s with the plastic-like Scotchpak material will be on display at the Arlington art space. The opening reception runs from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Free! The exhibit is on loan from the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. Artisphere is located at 1101 Wilson Blvd., Arlington. 703-875-1100 

Friday, Sept. 13

Brides Against Breast Cancer is a national nonprofit that tours the country selling donated wedding gowns with the proceeds going toward programs and services for people who are impacted by cancer.  The "Nationwide Tour of Gowns" will make a tour stop in Washington, DC Friday and Saturday at the Dupont Circle Hotel, 1500 New Hampshire Ave.
