Sheriff’s Office School Supply Drive a Success

The office collected supplies for local public schools, including 50 backpacks.

The Alexandria Sheriff’s Office collected school supplies for Alexandria City Public Schools students in need and delivered them to the ACPS central office on Monday.

Deputy Valarie Wright organized the supply drive, collecting donations for notebooks, paper, pencils, pens, crayons, glue, rulers, scissors and hand sanitizer from sheriff’s office staff and a $250 donation from Alexandria Sheriff’s Association. In addition, the sheriff’s office donated 50 backpacks. 

Arnecia Moody, an ACPS social worker who serves as the homeless liaison, will deliver the supplies to children and youth who need them most, including homeless students.

The Alexandria Sheriff's Office is responsible for the operation of the detention center, courthouse and courtroom security, service of all court legal documents, execution of court orders, transportation of prisoners, execution of arrest warrants and general public safety and law enforcement.
