John Adams Elementary Without Power Monday

Students were relocated to Patrick Henry, William Ramsay recreation centers Monday afternoon. School is open Tuesday.

Update Tuesday morning - John Adams is open this morning, though some areas are operating on limited power and heat. Staff and city schools officials are monitoring the situation. 

The school closed Monday afternoon due to a power outage. Students were moved to area recreation centers following the power outage.

John Adams Elementary School remained partially without power Monday afternoon.

Students in pre-kindergarten through second grades were relocated to Patrick Henry Recreation Center, and students in grades three through five were relocated to William Ramsay Recreation Center, according to Alexandria City Public Schools. Parents can call 703-824-6635 for more information or to reach the school.

Parents should pick up students at the William Ramsay and Patrick Henry locations, or students will be dismissed as normal to ride the bus home from these locations at 2:35 p.m. Walkers will be returned to John Adams to meet parents or to take their normal route home.

Students enrolled in Campagna or recreation center after-school programs will remain at the William Ramsay or Patrick Henry locations until they are picked up by their parents.
