Romeo's tip of the week: Give a little of yourself to help someone else (it can be something that seems small to you but a great help to someone else). Not only will you be helping them, you will be helping yourself.

Hello everyone,
This week started out a bit confusing for me. I heard my family talking about a terrible storm that was on its way. My momma started putting together a supply of batteries, flashlights, extra canned foods, blankets and even extra food and treats for me. I started feeling very anxious. I mean what was going on?! My momma must have sensed my fear, and she scooped me up for a cuddle and said in a very calm voice, “don’t worry Romeo, everything will be just fine”. It made me feel safe.

We got thru the storm just fine; but sadly many others were not as fortunate. So many people and their beloved pets lost the power to their homes or even worse lost their homes altogether. They must be feeling very scared and confused. There are probably pets who have been separated from their beloved owners. My heart breaks for them. I hope there are kind and loving people out there to help them through this awful time. I hope they make it back to each other so they can feel safe again.

Sometimes all we can do is prepare for the worst and hope for the best. But, sometimes there are things that happen that even the best preparation isn’t enough to handle. What everyone can do is come together and help each other through times like this.

My heartfelt prayers for those affected by Hurricane Sandy.
