Lane Closures on I-395 North Wednesday Night for Re-Striping
Work set between Duke Street (Route 236) and Seminary Road (Route 420), during overnight hours tonight, Wednesday, July 23.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is scheduled to finish restriping lanes on I-395 North, between Duke Street (Route 236) and Seminary Road (Route 420), during overnight hours tonight, Wednesday, July 23.
Crews will be working to complete new striping on about 1,500 feet of the far left lane in this area. This lane currently is marked by orange barrels, which were placed temporarily this morning, following last night's lane-marking work.
To safely accommodate this work, a single lane will be closed on I-395 North at 9:30 p.m.tonight, followed by a second lane at 10:30 p.m. Work is weather dependent, and if delayed, the orange barrels marking the lane will remain in place.
New lane markings are required as all three northbound lanes on this stretch of I-395 are being shifted to the right to allow construction access in the median of the interstate.

Following the lane shift, concrete barriers will be placed to provide a safe work zone. VDOT will begin building the foundations for the future ramp that will connect the I-395 High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes to Seminary Road.
The new ramp is scheduled to be completed in fall 2015 and is intended to help ease traffic congestion associated with the nearby Mark Center.
