How, Where to Vote in Virginia's Democratic Primary Election

Saturday is the last day to vote in-person absentee. Find your polling place for the June 11 primary here.

With the Democratic Primary Election tomorrow (Tuesday, June 11), you should be making sure you have everything in order to vote.

The registration period for the primary has closed so if you haven’t registered, it’s too late.

If you aren’t sure of your registration status, you can look it up on the Virginia Election Registration Information System.

The Virginia GOP has already chosen its candidates for governor, attorney general and lieutenant governor in a convention earlier this year.

The June 11 primary is to choose Democrats who will face off against those Republican nominees in November.

To learn more about all the candidates, see our Virginia 2013 Elections coverage here.

Where Do I Vote?

One Alexandria polling place has moved since November.

If you used to vote at Chinquapin Recreation Center, you will place their ballots at First Baptist Church. The move was needed because of scheduled heating and air conditioning renovations at Chinquapin.

Otherwise, you can look up your polling place by address.

What You’ll Need

Make sure you bring an acceptable form of identification to the polls. The following options will get you through the door:

  • Virginia voter registration card
  • Valid Virginia driver's license
  • Military ID
  • Any Federal, Virginia state or local government-issued ID
  • Employer issued photo ID card
  • Concealed handgun permit

A voter who does not bring an acceptable ID to the polls will be offered a provisional ballot.
