AT&T, Residents to Discuss Proposed Cell Tower

A cell tower is under discussion in the Parklawn community of Fairfax County.

AT&T will speak with residents at a meeting on a proposed cell tower in the Parklawn community from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21.

The community meeting will take place at the George Mason Meeting Room at the George Mason Regional Library, located at 7001 Little River Turnpike in Annandale.

AT&T is applying to Fairfax County for a special exception and special permit amendment to install a 128-foot tower near Parklawn Pool, located at 6011 Crater Place. The tower will be designed as a treepole.

Some local residents are objecting to the new tower and have formed a Stop the Parklawn Tower Facebook group. The group maintains that the tower would adversely affect the neighborhood aesthetics and quality of life, lower property values and pose health risks.

AT&T’s application will go before the Fairfax County Planning Commission and then the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. For more detailed information on the processes for special exceptions and special permit amendments, visit this webpage.
