Alexandria Seeks Elections Officers

Help out with the November elections.

The City of Alexandria is looking for people to be elections officers during the Nov. 6 presidential election.

The Alexandria Electoral Board is looking for civic-minded individuals with basic computer skills who are interested in the election process and are available to help. Turnout Nov. 6 is expected to reach near-record numbers.

The job includes setting up voting equipment and preparing the polling place for voting, verifying voter registration and checking in voters using laptop computers, demonstrating the voting process and providing assistance to voters, producing election results at the end of the day and closing the polling place and securing voting equipment and supplies.

Election officers receive $100 for their service. They are required to:

  • Be registered voters in the Commonwealth of Virginia;
  • Have basic computer skills;
  • Be willing to work from 4:45 a.m. until after the polls close at 7 p.m. (and results are tallied);
  • And be willing to adhere to the standards of integrity, neutrality, transparency and accuracy.
