Shooting on Holmes Run Parkway Investigated by Police

Two men suffered wounds with one in critical condition.

Alexandria Police are investigating a Wednesday shooting that occurred shortly before 7 a.m. in the West End.

A 35-year-old male has been flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital and was listed in critical condition with wounds to the body, according to police.

Another male who was at the home in the 5400 block of Holmes Run Parkway was treated on the scene for a gunshot wound to the hand. This 23-year-old male was interviewed by detectives and transported to Inova Alexandria Hospital for further medical treatment.

A pistol was recovered, police said.

The cause of this event is under investigation. The subject in critical condition is a former resident of the home, and was there to pick up personal items from his estranged wife who resides there.  The subject with the hand wound was a visitor.
