Shell Station Victim of Robbery Attempt

The would-be robber ran from the store after a clerk fought back.

Alexandria police are investigating an attempted robbery Monday at a local gas station that led to a fight between the would-be robber and the store clerk.

A man entered Shell Gas Station, located at 4670 Duke St., at about 7:45 a.m. and told the clerk to give him money, according to police. The man implied he had a weapon, but the clerk did not see one.

The man then hit the clerk in the head, and the clerk realized he didn’t have a weapon and fought back. The man then ran from the store without taking anything. The clerk was not seriously injured, police said.
