Police: Suspect in 28 Subway Burglaries Hit Van Dorn Plaza Subway Store

Burglar smashed front door glass, destroyed computer system March 25 at Van Dorn Street location.

Police are seeking tips from the public regarding a series of burglaries from Subway sandwich shops across the region. Nine of the crimes occurred in Fairfax County and one took place at the Van Dorn Plaza Subway store in March.

Others have taken place in Maryland.

The most recent burglary took place Monday, April 7 around 2 a.m. Someone broke the door to the restaurant, located at 8960 Burke Lake Road, and stole cash.

The burglaries are taking place in the middle of the night, prior to 4 a.m.

Jan 1 or 2: 6711 Spring Mall Drive, Springfield

Feb. 13: 6216 Old Dominion Dr., McLean

March 6 or 7: 13926 Lee Jackson Memorial Hwy., Chantilly

March 10 or 11: 6230 Rolling Road, West Springfield

March 11 or 12: 6991C Backlick Road

March 17:  5810 Kingstowne Center, Kingstowne

March 19 or 20: 6110 Rose Hill Dr., Rose Hill 

March 25: 275 S. Van Dorn St., Alexandria

A report on crimereports.com says the burglar smashed the front glass door, stole cash and destroyed the computer system at the Van Dorn Street location.

The suspect in the Burke Lake Road burglary is described as male, unknown race, wearing a light-colored hoodie and dark pants. The description is similar to 27 other Subway restaurant burglaries since November 2013.
