Police Release Photos of Robbery Suspect

Man attempted to rob a local gas station on Oct. 22.

Alexandria police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who tried to rob a West End gas station Oct. 22.

Police have released several photos of the man they believe is behind the crime. Anyone with information about this case or who recognizes the suspect in the surveillance photos is asked to call Detective Sean Casey at 703-746-6853.

At 7:45 a.m. on Oct. 22, the man entered the Shell gas station, located at 4670 Duke St. He implied he had a weapon and demanded money, according to police.

When the clerk realized the would-be robber had no weapon, he fought back, and the man ran from the store without stealing any money. The clerk was not injured.

The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-30s; 5 feet, 10 inches to 5 feet, 11 inches tall; and having a stocky build.  He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
