Alexandria Police Reports: Thief Exchanges Bike, Firearm Discharged

The Alexandria Police Department reported the following crimes in the West End of Alexandria in the past week.

Note: The addresses listed below indicates blocks and not specific addresses of incidents. Where an arrest is mentioned, it does not necessarily indicate a conviction.

 Alexandria police report that a man staying in a hotel room in the city’s West End accidentally discharged a firearm.

The incident occurred at 11:55 p.m. April 15 in the 5000 block of Seminary Road. The only hotel in the area is the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center Hotel. The firearm was legal, according to police reports. No injuries were reported.

In another case the same day, a woman told police a person stole her bicycle from her shed in the 1100 block of North Van Dorn Street. The thief left another bicycle in its place.

  • 6:28 p.m. April 14, 5800 block of Quantrell Avenue, assault, open. Assault occurred between two or more people who had a prior relationship or were known to each other.

  • 12 p.m. April 15, 5300 block of Essex Court, larceny/theft, pending. Unknown suspect/s stole victim's front license plate from his vehicle.
  • 9:30 a.m. April 15, 5800 block of Quantrell Avenue, assault, pending. Assault occurred between two or more people who had a prior relationship or were known to each other.
  • 10:39 a.m. April 15, 6000 block of Tower Court, destruction/damage/vandalism of property, larceny/theft, pending. Victim reported unknown suspect/s cut the top of his
  • convertible to enter the vehicle and stole coins from the console.

  • 7:24 a.m. April 15, 400 block of South Pickett Street, destruction/damage/vandalism of property, pending. Victim reported unknown suspect/s took a rock and broke the driver's side door window of his vehicle.
  • 1 p.m. April 15, 900 block of Lindsay Place, assault, open. Assault occurred between two or more people who had a prior relationship or were known to each other.
  • 8:47 p.m. April 15, Duke Street and Fort Williams Parkway, destruction/damage/vandalism of property, pending. Unknown suspect/s wrote graffiti on the "Do not Enter" sign at this location.

April 16

  • 12:55 p.m. April 16, 200 block of South Stevenson Square, larceny/theft, pending. Victim reported that unknown suspect/s entered both of her unlocked vehicles parked on the street at this location.
  • 2:15 a.m. April 16, 3300 block of King Street, larceny/theft, pending.
  • 2:44 p.m. April 16, 5500 block of Trent Court, trespass of real property, larceny/theft, pending.
  • 1:39 p.m. April 16, 5500 block of Trent Court, destruction/damage/vandalism of property, pending. Unknown suspect/s broke the small rear driver's side door window of victim's vehicle, but no entry appears to have been made.

  • 1:05 p.m. April 16, 5300 block of Holmes Run Parkway, larceny/theft, pending. Unknown suspect/s entered victim's unlocked vehicle parked in the apartment complex parking lot and stole items.

April 17

  • 1:42 p.m. April 17, 3300 block of King Street, destruction/damage/vandalism of property, pending.
  • 6:08 p.m. April 17, 5300 block of Knole Court, assault, open.
  • 12:36 a.m. April 17, South Bragg Street, destruction/damage/vandalism of property, open. Receptionist at the apartment complex at this location reported that glass from a window had fallen onto the ground in front of the main entrance. Two subjects who were occupying the room left the building as police arrived.
  • 12:02 p.m. April 17, 300 block of South Whiting Street, assault, arrest.
  • 9:05 p.m. April 17, 5900 block of Duke Street, larceny/theft, arrest. Shoplifting offense occurred at this location.
