Last Day: 2013 Washington Auto Show Ends Sunday

If you haven't made it yet to the 2013 Washington Auto Show, you still have one last day!

The 2013 Washington Auto Show's last day is Sunday at the Washington Convention Center where more than 700 makes and models are on display.

Tickets are $12 per person, $5 for children ages 6-12 and free admission for ages 5 and younger. 

Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

New this year at the show, Green Car Journal bestowed its first Green Car Technology Award, to Mazda Skyactiv, which uses a high-compression four-cylinder gasoline engine to maximize fuel efficiency and torque.

Also this year, the Ford Motor Company Fund announced a $500,000 contribution to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History and its Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation. The funds will be used to support and expand the Spark!Lab program challenging kids to create, collaborate and invent.

The donation is part of Ford’s ongoing commitment to innovation and honors the legacy of founder Henry Ford; the anniversary of the company founder’s 150th birthday occurs this year on July 30.

“My great-grandfather Henry Ford knew as well as anyone how truly rewarding the invention process can be,” said Edsel B. Ford II, who is a board member of the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum. 

The car show has something for everyone. Celebrities from Olympic Gold medalist Gabrielle Douglas to Washington Redskins' London Fletcher will be on hand at the auto show this week. 

Douglas, the first African-American to win the most prestigious prize in gymnastics — the Olympics' Individual All-Around Champion — and the Associated Press 2012 Female Athlete of the Year, will appear at The Washington Auto Show Friday evening to meet fans and sign autographs at the Toyota booth.

"With her winning and graceful smile, personality, and, of course, performances, Gabrielle Douglas is the stuff of champions, and we are practically doing somersaults over her upcoming appearance here," said Washington Auto Show chairman Robert Fogarty, in a news release. 

Douglas will be appearing at the show Friday at 6:30 p.m. Other stars: WWE® Superstars Randy Orton® will be appearing at the show Wednesday, 6-8 pm, and Sheamus® on Thursday at 6-8 p.m. Washington star wide receiver Pierre Garcon will be signing at the Honda Booth Saturday from 1-3 p.m. For a full schedule of celebrity appearances, go here.

More than 700 vehicles representing 43 domestic and import manufacturers are on display in this 71st edition of the show, which also presents the inaugural Luxury Showcase and enhanced floor plan.
