Rick's Wine and Gourmet Closes

After 20 years in business, Rick’s Wine and Gourmet closed its doors Dec. 31, 2012.

A sign on the door said the business lost their lease. In a note to Patch, company management blamed the closure on increasing rent.

Rick’s Wine and Gourmet was in the Alexandria Commons center at 3117 Duke Street, between Starbucks and Giant. The store opened in 1993. In addition to wine and beer, the store also offered gourmet food and made-to-order sandwiches.

A message on the homepage of the store’s website said, “It has been a great run and we thank you all for being such great customers.”

The store wrote on its Twitter page that there are no plans to relocate.
