Beef O'Brady's Looks at Alexandria for Expansion

The family-friendly sports bar could be open by next year's Super Bowl in Alexandria.

Family restaurant and sports bar Beef O’Brady’s is looking at expanding into Northern Virginia—and Alexandria is its target.

Beef O’Brady’s is looking for both real estate and franchisees in the area and could open a restaurant in time for the 2014 Super Bowl game.

Alexandria “rises to the top year after year” as a place that is “very strong for the restaurant market,” said Beef O’Brady’s Chief Development Officer James Walker in an interview with Patch.

“The market looks great, we think the individuals who live in the area are sports fans, they are individuals who have families—everything points to yes,” Walker said.

The opening timeline for the restaurant depends on finding the right real estate, hiring and training a franchisee and renovating or building a building. All of those could be done by the end of 2013 if conditions are right, Walker said.

An ideal franchisee would be from this area, have community connections and an entrepreneurial spirit.

The restaurant has been compared to Applebees and Chili’s restaurants in terms of environment. The closest Beef O’Brady’s to Virginia is in Frederick, Md.

It may be best known in this area for the Beef O’Brady’s St. Petersburg college football bowl game. In December 2012, the University of Central Florida beat Ball State University 38-17.

There are more than 214 Beef O’Brady’s restaurants in the United States.

What might be a good location for Beef O'Brady's in town? Do you think the area would benefit from a restaurant like this?
