Civil War Concert at Fort Ward Park

The free, family-friendly event takes place in September.

Ford Ward Park is hosting the Federal City Brass Band, a Civil War-style band performing in authentic dress and playing original brass instruments of that time.

The free Fort Ward concert Sept. 21 at 3 p.m. will feature a variety of military, patriotic and popular selections of the time, introduced with historical commentary.

Highlights of the program will include The Lincoln Inauguration March; Lorena/Bright Smiles; Polonaise last Rose of Summer; Red, White and Blue; and The Battle Cry of Freedom. The band will also have CDs available for sale, including its most recent recording, “Hurrah for the Union! Music of Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War.”
