Alexandria Symphony Orchestra — House Volunteers

Volunteers are needed for our concerts and events, including ushering, ticket taking, Will Call ticket distribution and concession work. Volunteers are also needed in the office a specific times of year or during specific projects. Contact: Jessica

Alexandria Tutoring Consortium (ATC) — Tutors

323 South Fairfax Street, Alexandria, VA 22314

Community Lodgings — Tutors

Volunteers will work with at-risk middle and high school students in the areas of academics, civic responsibility and life skills. The program is from 4:30 – 6 pm, Monday through Thursday during the school year. Volunteer tutors are also needed in the Family Learning Center for Physics, French and Biology. Child & Family Network Centers (CFNC) — Classroom Volunteer

Volunteers may read to children, play a musical instrument, plan a special activity with help from the teacher, and perform other activities. Monday – Friday, 9am-3pm, during the school year. Friends of Guest House — Total Woman Program Mentors

Volunteers are needed for the Total Woman Program to assist clients in learning how to transition well back into society. T.C. Williams International Network — In Classroom Tutors

Volunteers are needed to assist students/language learners during their classes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays to become proficient in English with the subject matter. Volunteer Alexandria — Community Service Day Coordinators and Fundraisers Needed

Spring for Alexandria 2013 involves hundreds of volunteers who will join together on Friday, May 3 to provide community services at dozens of nonprofits throughout the city. Volunteers are needed to help us secure donations from stores, restaurants, etc. to give out as prizes.  Site coordinators are needed to assist with project development and overseeing 3-5 sites the day of the event. Sunday, Feb. 17 and Monday, Feb. 18 —  George Washington Birthday Event Volunteers

Sunday, Feb. 17 — George Washington Classic 10-K Race

Headquarters is the Atrium at the U. S. Patent & Trademark Office (enter from Eisenhower Avenue). Volunteers are needed from 6 to 11 a.m. with registration, distribution of food, water stops, and route marshaling. 

Sunday, Feb. 17  —  Revolutionary War Reenactment at Fort Ward Park

4301 West Braddock Road, Alexandria 22304. Volunteers are needed from 1 to 3 p.m. to perform crowd control for the skirmish between Colonial and Red Coat reenactment units.

Monday, Feb. 18  — George Washington Birthday Parade

Meet at the American Legion Club Room (lower level) at 400 Cameron Street, Alexandria 22314. Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for set up and parade marshaling. Training is on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. at the American Legion Club Room.
