Cameron Station Taking Nominations for Community Spirit Award

The award is named after Mark Pillow, who died in 2005.

The Cameron Station Community Association is now accepting nominations for the Mark Pillow Community Spirit Award, which honors those who help out in the community.

Pillow, who died suddenly in December 2005, was a generous community volunteer who embodied the spirit of Cameron Station and made it a better, brighter place to live. In 2006, in his memory, the common area committee established the annual award. The Cameron Station Board of Directors will present the award at the annual meeting on Nov. 5.

Cameron Station residents are encouraged to think about good neighbors who help out the entire community by actions such as volunteering on committees, lending a hand at community events, organizing meetings and parties, serving on the board or working on the civic association.

Last year’s winner, Susan Birchler, is the organizer of the West End Farmer’s Market.

The award can also recognize neighbors who help on a more personal level, such as feeding and walking pets, watering neighbors’ plants, picking up your newspapers and mail, shoveling driveways or providing rides to doctors and airports.
