A water main break Wednesday morning at the intersection of Duke and North Paxton streets has reduced water pressure to homes and businesses in that neighborhood.

Work crews were just starting repairs at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday and did not have an estimate on when repairs would be completed.

Duke Street is down to one lane in each direction in the immediate vicinity.

Alexandria city officials are asking residents to call Virginia American Water at 800-452-6863 for more information. Residents should have their account number handy when calling.
