We have a whole bunch of categories you can choose for your announcement from births and obituaries and for all sorts of life events in between; you'll see for yourself when you send us your announcement.

We only ask that you refrain from advertising—if we see you offering anything "free with purchase" or at "10 percent off," for example, we can't publish that. 

Some announcements may even make it into the Patch daily email newsletter or land on the homepage of our site.
